Chris Dracup

Original NM Funk / Blues / Reggae / Soul in the Cellar Bar!

Chris Dracup is a local Albuquerque favorite. A life long musician and resident of New Mexico who began his performing career at the age of fifteen in his hometown of Taos. He has been a singer and lead guitarist with some of the areas premier musical acts including The Muttz, The Rattle Cats, The Chris Dracup Band, Tommy Elskes and most recently Chris Dracup: Funk of the West.

Known for his soulful electric and acoustic blues and funk guitar, he works on call in a wide range of musical styles. His acoustic guitar playing draws heavily on the southern delta blues tradition. His original songwriting and regular performance schedule have garnered him critical and popular acclaim, and won him an enduring Southwestern fan base.

Chris has been a featured performer at some of the top regional music festivals including the Telluride Blues and Brews Festival, Silver City Blues Festival, Madrid Blues Festivals, Thirsty Ear Festival, Trinidaddio Fest, Taos Solar Fest and many more. He was featured prominently on a television ad campaign for Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Mexico’s “You’ve got the Blues” and is involved in other commercial and film work.

He is often featured as an opening act, performing on concerts with touring acts passing through New Mexico. Everyone from Lynyrd Skynyrd to Toots and the Maytals – from Tori Amos to Taj Mahal and Richard Thompson and many more.”
